After a successful run at the box office with his films Baadshaho and Golmaal Again!!, Ajay Devgn has once again won the hearts of audience with his action thriller . Ajay plays honest income tax officer Amay Patnaik in the film.
The movie witnessed a strong first Monday collection at the ticket window. According to boxofficeindia.com, Raid collected Rs 6.25 crore on its fourth day. However, compared to Day 1, the drop is around 35 percent.
The trade report further stated that film earned Rs 9.45 crore approximately on its first day and went on to add Rs 13.25 crore and Rs 16.75 crore approximately on its second and third days (first weekend). Raid collected a total amount of Rs 46 crore approximately in four days, stated boxofficeindia.com.
The trade portal also predicted that at the rate it is setting cash registers ringing, it could end its first week with a good collection of Rs 62 crore approximately in its first week.
Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the movie is set in the 1980s. Apparently, the film is loosely based on real-life IT raids that were conducted by the Indian Revenue Service. Amay Patanaik is a tough income tax officer who vows to expose local tycoon Rameshwar Singh (Saurabh Shukla). The film also stars Ileana D’cruz opposite Ajay Devgn.
